Back to the old school

Now then, sorry for sounding like the worst kind of snob, but these days you're more likely to find me standing on my head reading War & Peace in a Hastings bus stop than shopping in a budget supermarket now that I am no longer a student.

Don't get me wrong, the stores themselves have a lot going for them; no carrier bags, crates of 1664 for the price of a corner shop four-pack and above all, no cheesy greeter at the entrance telling you how pleased they are to see you.

Having toiled over the books for four years and moved onto the world of employment, the discount supermarket no longer seemed the right place to get my 'big shop', not least because my budget has increased 20-fold from £3.14 and I can honestly say that I haven't been in one for at least five years.

But all that is about to change, it turns out that Lidl now sells pheasant!

Lidl!

I'm quite sure it'll be one of the more costly items on the shelves, but the fact of the matter is it's there and proof that more people are taking a liking to it.

I've decided to forgive Asda after they eventually restocked the venison burgers, and will still be getting my birds from shoots or the local butchers in Newark (where a certain ex-Chelsea boss buys his sausages no less) but I'll be adding the cheap and cheerful emporium of the land now in search of my game. Why not check them out for yourself, you'll be suprised what you can find there!

I wonder if they still sell 1,000 dustbin bags for 14p?
