New head of press relations for BASC

Mr Harper spent eight years in the Territorial Army

Dave Harper, a former BBC environment correspondent and soldier, has taken up the post of head of press relations for BASC.

Mr Harper was head of television with Army Media Operations for the last four years, spending much of his time filming on operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, and on exercise in Central America, Africa and the Falkland Islands.

BASC will be hoping to capitalize on Mr Harper’s professional background in television, as he worked for the BBC for over 15 years as a news reporter and environmental correspondent. He also produced over 100 editions of the regional BBC news programme East Midlands Today.

Mr Harper said: “I’m really proud to have the opportunity to work for BASC. It’s an exciting time to join the association because of the centenary year and the plans to build a new communications centre.

"I’m also looking forward to using my skills as a TV producer to help promote the sport as BASC begins a second century of serving its members.”
